Creamy dairy
Fat-free ultra-filtered milk
Milk gives the drink its creamy character. Ultra-filtration concentrates milk protein while reducing some of the milk’s lactose; the finished drink is not being marketed as lactose-free.
The protein
Whey protein concentrate
Whey concentrate adds dairy protein to the milk base. It retains some milk fat and lactose, and suits the creamy flavor we want in this formula.
The main event
Palmetto honey
A full serving of real honey brings sweetness, character and carbohydrates. Its sugars count as added sugars in this beverage.
A subtle finish
Pure vanilla extract
A light vanilla note rounds out the milk and honey. It supports the honey instead of covering it up.
The balance
Sea salt
A small amount rounds out the sweetness and helps the flavor feel balanced.

Ultra-filtered milk and whey concentrate work together in this prototype. Our goal is a creamy protein shake with honey at the center, rather than a protein number at the expense of flavor.
Our formulation principles: no artificial sweeteners, no gums, no preservatives and no artificial flavors. Commercial ingredient specifications are still being finalized.
